Transwestern Gets LEED Certification of Renovation of Houston Headquarters

HOUSTON – Transwestern’s Houston has earned LEED Silver certification for its recently renovated headquarters office at 1900 West Loop South in Houston.

“We are proud to receive LEED Silver certification for the office build out at our corporate headquarters,” said Transwestern’s Chip Clarke, president | Americas. “With the assistance of Transwestern’s Sustainability Services team, we have created a healthy, state of the art office space while establishing a greater awareness of our company’s impact on the environment.”

Some of the LEED efforts and building highlights include:

  • 81 percent of equipment and appliances purchased for the remodeled office space are ENERGY STAR® rated
  • 88 percent, 1,110-cubic-yards of construction waste generated during demolition was diverted from landfills and incineration facilities
  • 13 percent of construction materials and furniture used in the remodel contain recycled materials
  • 95 percent of regularly occupied areas have access to outside views
  • 79 percent of the lighting installed is controlled by occupancy sensors
  • Implementation of a High Performance Green Cleaning Program that incorporates janitorial training in the hazards, use, maintenance, disposal and recycling of cleaning chemicals, dispensing equipment and packaging.

Transwestern received LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Commercial Interiors. Transwestern completed the renovation of 58,000 square feet in the building, located just south of San Felipe Road, in March.

Transwestern has 34 U.S. offices and assists clients through more than 181 offices in 40 countries as part of a strategic alliance with Paris-based BNP Paribas Real Estate.
