Hines Pouring Foundation This Weekend for 48-story Office Tower

HOUSTON – Downtown Houston will be lined with a parade of concrete trucks this weekend as Hines, the Houston-based real estate firm, undertakes a massive concrete mat pour for the foundation of a 1 million square-foot office tower.

The process will run more than 17-hours to set the foundation for Houston’s next  skyscraper – 609 Main at Texas Avenue. The office tower is scheduled for completion in early 2017.

The mat pour should begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, and be complete around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Approximately 180 concrete trucks will line up to continuously pour 14,000-cubic yards of concrete.

The 609 Main at Texas is being developed by the Hines CalPERS Green development fund, a partnership that focuses exclusively on developing sustainable office buildings throughout the United States certifiable through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Core & Shell program.  This same partnership developed the BG Group Place tower also on Main St., two blocks from the construction site.

When completed, 609 Main at Texas is expected to attain Gold or Platinum LEED certification.
