HOUSTON – Sims Luxury Builders is developing a Aurora, a 16-story residential high-rise designed by Philip Johnson/Alan Ritchie Architects.

The 40-unit project, with homes priced at $2 million and up will be located at 4906 Tilbury Drive in the Hidden Oaks neighborhood of Houston, near Uptown Park and the Galleria.

The Aurora’s classic modernist architecture is by Philip Johnson/Alan Ritchie Architects, which has opened an office in Houston.

“We feel like we are coming home to our roots with Aurora,” said Marko T. Dasigenis, Principal of PJAR’s new Houston office, which opened in response to growing demand for cutting edge architecture with a local presence. “Williams Tower was monumentally visionary for Houston and remains so after more than 30 years not only because of its stature as the tallest building outside any urban core in the U.S. but for its all-glass structure, which is a nod to the iconic skyscrapers built in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco after the Great Depression.Philip always said, ‘Architecture should move you, amuse you, and inspire you.’ Iconic buildings create value and increase in value over time, and that is exactly what we are doing with Aurora.”

Aurora will feature 40-residences ranging from 3,400- to 4,000-square-feet in size and four penthouses ranging from 5,700- to 6,400-square-feet.

“We are very pleased to be working with Philip Johnson/Alan Ritchie Architects on Aurora,” said Sims Luxury Builders founder Chris Sims of Houston.

Now under the leadership of Alan Ritchie and Marko Dasigenis, who worked with the late Johnson, the firm is based in New York City with a second office in Houston. PJAR has won numerous awards and is known for many distinguished buildings, including the AT&T Corporate Headquarters, Lipstick Building, Pennzoil Place, Trump International, Chrysler Center, The Amon Carter Museum, The Metropolitan and The Pennsylvania Academy of Music.

Sims is also developing the 29-unit, 10-story Riva at the Park residential building, just west of downtown Houston off of Allen Parkway.
