Rendering of future Regent Square by GID Development.
HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – GID Development Group announced it is moving ahead with Phase 2 of Regent Square, a mixed-use development at West Dallas and Dunlavy streets, just south of Buffalo Bayou Park.
The eight-acre Phase 2 will include 600 multifamily units and 50,000 SF of street-level retail leased by JLL Retail Advisory Services.
OJB Landscape Architecture is designing a large central plaza with activated green space. Phase 1 of Regent Square included a 21-story residential tower, the Sovereign at Regent Square, completed in 2015.
Designed by CBT, a Boston-based architectural firm known for their placemaking, Phase 2 was conceived as a thoughtfully scaled and site-specific, three-dimensional piece of architecture that will allow residents and visitors to relate to and engage with the curated and programmed urban environment.
“Our goal for Regent Square is the creation of an exemplary, urban mixed-use district in the heart of Houston. Phase 2, the core of the masterplan, is poised to establish the project as a dynamic, walkable place as it weaves high quality restaurants, retail and residential into the fabric of the surrounding neighborhoods,” said James Linsley, President of Boston-based GID Development Group.
The 24-acre Regent Square district runs along West Dallas Street in the north part of the Montrose area, west of Waugh Drive. Much of the land had been the site of the old Allen House apartments.
