HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – GID Development Group has broken ground on 50,000 SF of retail with 600 multifamily units in the Inner Loop of Houston. It’s Phase 2 of Regent Square, a mixed-use development near the intersection of West Dallas and Dunlavy streets, just south of Buffalo Bayou Park.
Arch-Con Corp. is serving as the general contractor and JLL is overseeing leasing of the retail, slated to be complete in the first quarter of 2021. The apartments are slated to be completed later in 2021.
“Phase 2 is a game-changing urban infill development reimagining the in-demand Allen Parkway corridor,” the developer said. The area has benefitted from the recent development of Buffalo Bayou Park, a linear waterfront amenity that has received international recognition.
The Regent Square project is designed by CBT, a Boston-based architectural firm known for their placemaking.
“It has been amazing to see the transformation of Houston in the decades since GID first acquired this property, and we feel patience has truly been a virtue in determining how best to knit this site into the area’s ongoing evolution,” said James Linsley, President of GID Development Group. “Few properties offer such incredible access to parks as well as business and leisure points of interest, and we are thrilled to be part of this neighborhood’s next chapter as an exemplary, walkable destination.”
OJB Landscape Architecture is designing a large central plaza with activated green space. Phase 1 of Regent Square included a 21-story residential tower, the Sovereign at Regent Square, completed in 2015.
The 24-acre Regent Square district runs along West Dallas Street in the north part of the Montrose area, west of Waugh Drive. Much of the land had been the site of the old Allen House apartments.
Founded in 1960, GID has acquired or developed over 80,000 residential units and 16 million square feet of commercial space in 24 states and 3 continents. With offices in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, and Denver, the company employs over 800 real estate professionals
