Houston Groundbreaking: 30-Story Horizon Tower Will Kick-Off in 2020

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Medistar Corp. will break ground this year on Horizon Tower, a 30-story, 485,000-SF life sciences building in the Texas Medical Center, according to JLL.

The Horizon Building, 6929 Main Street, will be part of the $550 million Texas A&M Innovation Plaza in Houston’s Texas Medical Center, where thousands of medical professionals are trained.

Scheduled to be complete in January 2024, Horizon Tower will feature 17 levels of life sciences spacesuited for biomedical, technology, clinical, medical and office uses, atop a 13-story parking structure.

JLL  led by a Tim Gregory and Angela Barber leasing team, has been selected by Medistar Corporation and Texas A&M University as the exclusive leasing agent for the Horizon Tower.

“Horizon Tower is well-positioned to thrive as one of the state’s premier life sciences facilities located within Texas A&M’s Innovation Plaza campus in the largest medical center in the world,” said JLL Senior Vice President Tim Gregory.

Horizon Tower is being developed by Houston-based Medistar Corp., which is led by Monzer Hourani.

American Triple I Partners, founded by Texas A&M University alum Henry Cisneros, is part of the financing team. Cisneros, formerly mayor of San Antonio, served as HUD secretary in the Clinton administration.

The Texas A&M logo was recently attached at the top of its newly redeveloped 18-story building at the corner of Main Street and Holcombe Boulevard. The university acquired the building, which sits on 5.5 acres, in 2017. The redevelopment included the installation of a new reflective glass skin.
