Banorte Securities Moves HQ from New York to Houston’s Galleria Financial Center

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report ) – Banorte Securities International is relocating its U.S. headquarters from New York to Houston’s Galleria.

Banorte signed a 10,000-square-foot lease in a 12-story office tower in the middle of the Galleria mall, the mixed-use landmark developed by Hines.

The 252,000-SF Galleria Financial Center is one of three office towers in the Galleria complex

In the Banorte lease, Win Haggard, Brad Beasley  and Cameron Colvill of Cushman & Wakefield  represented the building ownership, affiliated with Azrieli Group and Unilev Management.

Banorte Securities is a subsidiary of Grupo Financiero Banorte, the second-largest financial institution in Mexico. Its brokerage services offer options including mutual funds, equities and fixed income products.

“Houston’s proximity to a large portion of our client base, growing economy and connection to Banorte’s Mexican culture makes it the perfect home for Banorte Securities’ U.S. headquarters,”    Houston-based CEO Xavier Ibarrola.

Galleria Financial Center houses 24 full-time Banorte employees with space to expand.

Galleria Financial Center is a structure smartly designed into the Galleria itself with office balconies that open and overlook one of the mall’s expansive atriums. Building amenities include a tenant conference center, walkable access to over 50 dining options, convenient shopping to over 400 fine retail stores, direct accessibility to two fully renovated Westin hotels and is near the new Uptown Park and Ride development.

Houston’s Mixed-Use Masterpiece

The Galleria, located a block west of Loop 610, is considered to be one of the masterpiece developments created by the late Houston developer, Gerald D. Hines.

The Galleria is a 3 million-SF mixed-use complex located on a 52-acre site at the corner of Westheimer and Post Oak. Inspired by the famed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, Italy, the complex features over 300 stores and restaurants, two Westin Hotels with a combined total of 900 rooms, and an Olympic-size ice skating rink. Hines sold The Galleria in 1999.

The Galleria has three office towers with a total of 1,066,117 SF, including the 25-story Galleria Tower I, the 21-story Galleria II and the 12-story Galleria Financial Center.

Banorte’ headquarters space in the Galleria Financial Center, 5075 Westheimer Road, was designed by AMB Architects. It provides an open concept office infused flares of Mexican/Houston culture through brightly colored pops of graffiti art décor including two 6 by 8-foot custom murals.

Banorte maintains a branch in The Woodlands. The firm said it plans to expand across Texas, as well as Miami and San Diego in the coming years.

“Our relocation of the U.S. headquarters to Houston is the start of a new chapter for Banorte Securities,” said Grupo Financiero Banorte’s Private Banking Managing Director, Luis Pietrini.
