Upscale Persian Restaurant Opening in Post Oak Place

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Rumi’s Kitchen, recognized as a top dining destination in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., is opening on Post Oak Boulevard, just north of the Galleria.

The 5,200-square-foot Middle Eastern concept will be located in Post Oak Place – the new mixed-use development anchored by Zadok Jewelers.

Former Gerald D. Hines Site

The Post Oak Place development, 1801 Post Oak Boulevard, is built on a site developed decades ago by the late Mr. Gerald D. Hines. The one-story Post Oak Row retail strip center developed by Mr. Hines was demolished to make room for the new Post Oak Place.

The 5-story, 112,000-square-foot Post Oak Place combines upscale retail, office, and restaurant spaces. Opened in March 2021 with the debut of jeweler Zadok Jewelers, Post Oak Place will also be home to Northern Trust bank and a pair of A-list restaurants, including the acclaimed modern Japanese concept Uchiko and innovative Persian cuisine destination Rumi’s Kitchen.

Created by Chef/Owner Ali Mesghali and co-owner Stephen Kaplan, Rumi’s Kitchen is known for its contemporary twists on Persian staples with a menu featuring small, shareable dishes along with family-style entrees like kebabs, fresh-made flatbreads, stews, and specialty rice. Post Oak Place will mark the restaurant’s first Texas outpost and its fifth location in the U.S.

“As one of the first upscale Persian restaurants to join Houston’s culinary scene, Rumi’s Kitchen represents an exciting addition to our robust and dynamic roster of tenants at Post Oak Place,” said Zadok Jewelers principal, Jonathan Zadok. He added, “By the growing mix of international restaurants that are helping to usher in a new chapter for the Uptown District following recent improvements to the area, Post Oak Boulevard continues to blossom into a compelling and exciting destination for both locals and tourists alike to visit, dine, shop, and explore.”

The Post Oak Place was designed by the Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, an Austin firm who was extremely popular in the pre-pandemic era.
