HOUSTON – Skanska USA Development has started construction on a $100 million office building in the Energy Corridor district in west Houston.

West Memorial Place II will be a 14-story office building with approximately 380,000 square feet of rentable space. It is targeted for LEED Platinum certification. The new office building will be adjacent to West Memorial Place I, Skanska’s first development on this site at 15375 Memorial Drive next to Terry Hershey Park.

West Memorial Place II is scheduled to be completed end of 2015.

The first phase of the project, West Memorial Place I, is a 12-story, HOK-designed 325,000-square-foot building that is nearing completion. Petroleum Geo-Service of Norway leased 122,000 square feet in the first building and Ventari Resources, which focus on Gulf of Mexico exploration, leased a full floor recently.

Skanska USA is one of the leading development and construction companies in the country, consisting of four business units: Skanska USA Building, which specializes in building construction; Skanska USA Civil, specialized in civil infrastructure; Skanska Infrastructure Development North America, which develops public-private partnerships; and Skanska USA Commercial Development, which develops commercial projects in select U.S. markets. Headquartered in New York, Skanska USA has more than 9,600 employees.

The Skanska  parent company is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
