HOUSTON – Midway Cos. has announced plans for two additional office buildings and a high-rise residential tower as an extension of their CityCentre project.

Midway bought 6.4 acres, giving the CityCentre mixed-use development frontage on the Katy Freeway, which is also known as Interstate 10.

Houston-based Midway will construct two 16-story office buildings with a total of 740,000 square feet of office space.

In addition, a 13-story, 270-unit rental residential tower will be built on the recently acquired land, which is near Houston’s Energy Corridor district.

The CityCentre is a mixed-use project, built on the site of the former Town & Country regional mall, along Beltway 8 in the Memorial area on Houston’s west side.

CityCentre has office, retail, restaurants, apartments and the 266-room Hotel Sorella, a world-class hospitality and conference facility.

Midway said the new development is a newly-expanded partnership with LaSalle Investment Management, a leading global real estate investment manager. Colvill Office Properties will handle leasing. The new buildings will be certified LEED Gold.

The new residential tower, a 285,000-square-foot, multi-family high-rise, 22,400 square feet of ground-floor restaurant/retail and a one-acre central green space.

Midway has filled the first four office buildings it built in CityCentre and it is currently under constrution with CityCentre Five, a 15-story, 200,000-square-foot project under construction at 825 Town & Country Way.

The new buildings, CityCentre Towers 1 and 2 will provide direct frontage to the Interstate 10 access road at Town & Country Boulevard.  The buildings will rise 16 stories and incorporate nine levels of parking plus fourth-floor roof terraces.  Typical floor plates will average approximately 26,000 square feet, and space will be adaptable for shared-floor, single-floor or multi-floor configurations.

“From CityCentre’s location at the axis of two of Houston’s most vital traffic arteries to its mix of business, leisure and residential elements, Towers 1 and 2 offer an incomparable address for companies looking to attract and retain staff in this highly competitive market,” said Shon Link, Midway’s Executive Vice President, Development.

CityCentre was unveiled in 2009.

According to Jonathan Brinsden, CEO of Midway, “We are excited about the opportunity to create new landmarks that continue to set CityCentre apart in Houston and reinforce the district’s prominence as a community gathering place and a key catalyst for West Houston.”
