HOUSTON — Houston developer Frederick R. “Rick” McCord, who served as Chairman of McCord Development, has died after an illness. He was 70.
Mr. McCord was particularly well known for his interest in northeast Houston, where he developed the 1,500-acre Summerwood master planned community. McCord Development is currently developing the 4,000-acre Generation Park mixed-use development in the northeast.
McCord Development has developed or acquired $2 billion of real estate over the last 40 years, including office, multifamily, industrial and land. At one time, McCord controlled a string of office buildings along Loop 610 in Bellaire.
Mr. McCord attended Christ the King Presbyterian Church, where services were held Monday.
