HOUSTON — AMD Global, LLC has acquired The Heights Hospital and that major renovations are underway with anticipated completion in mid-September.
AMD partnered with Medical Center Developments to purchase the 192,077 SF, six-floor hospital, located on 3.94 acres at 1917 Ashland Street in the Heights, Dr. Dharmesh Patel, CEO of AMD.
The hospital, formerly operated by Select Specialty Hospitals, has been home to St. Joseph Medical Center, which will remain a significant anchor and tenant. “St. Joseph has been doing a phenomenal job and continues to operate here today,” he said. “They are, and will continue to be, an important partner in our overall plan,” he added.
That plan, according to Patel, includes attracting additional tenants and significantly expanding services to make The Heights Hospital a healthcare destination and centerpiece in the Heights.
The expanded services will include labor & delivery, and a neonatal unit (NICU); pediatric offices; a full orthopedics center including spine, general orthopedics, and sports medicine and rehabilitation; as well as a wound care center.
A full-service restaurant, called West 19th Grille, will be located within the hospital.
“By revitalizing this landmark, attracting the right tenants and expanding services, we are creating something of real significance with The Heights Hospital. We are looking forward to transforming this facility into one that truly reflects the individuality and spirit of The Heights and to bringing the residents who live there the high-quality healthcare they deserve,” Patel said.
AMD Global’s founder and CEO, Dharmesh Patel, MD is a co-founder and Chief Operating Office of Neighbors Emergency Health Centers which has 30-plus freestanding emergency rooms in multiple states.
In addition to The Heights Hospital transformation, AMD Global is the parent company for Avail Health, a newly-formed hospital system with facilities being developed in multiple states; including a Lake Charles, LA. micro-hospital to open in third quarter of 2017.
