MIDLAND, Texas – (Realty News Report) – Anadarko Petroleum Corp. will build a regional headquarters in Midland and become the first anchor tenant in the Westridge Commons mixed-use development, a joint venture between Continuum Partners and KKR.
The 38-acre Westridge Commons, located adjacent to the regional headquarters of Chevon and Occidental Petroleum, will include retail and multifamily.
“We are thrilled to be kicking off Westridge Commons with this outstanding new facility for Anadarko,” said Mark Falcone, founder and CEO of Continuum Partners. “From the first time we visited Midland, we believed this specific piece of land was well positioned to create a dynamic new district which will serve the increasingly sophisticated demands of this growing city.
Anadarko’s purchase marks the first major business owner to build in the new development, which is ideally located on Andrews Highway, midway between Fort Worth and El Paso. Construction on Anadarko’s property is planned to begin in February 2018 with completion of its offices and the initial phase of retail expected in the summer of 2019. Approximately 300 employees initially are expected to be based in the new location. Anadarko is expected to occupy 300,000 SF at build-out.
Houston-based Anadarko is one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies.
“The oil and natural gas industry has been a fixture of the Midland community for a long time, and we look forward to being a part of its continued success and growth for many years to come,” said Chad McAllaster, Anadarko Vice President, Delaware Basin.
Continuum Partners, based in Denver, developed the nationally acclaimed Denver Union Station Transportation Center. The historic Union Station, now the nexus of eight commuter rail lines, is surrounded with significant mixed-use development by Falcone’s firm and its partners.
Falcone was a speaker at the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) conference in Denver in June.
