HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Autograph Homes, a new home building firm based in Houston, has started construction of its first houses.
Led by 36-year industry veteran James Miller, Autograph Homes is building three semi-custom homes in Spring Branch and recently broke ground on three model homes in the new 2,000-acre master-planned community of Two Step Farm in Montgomery.
“It’s exciting to build a company from the ground up,” said Miller, who is President of Autograph Homes. “I’ve been in this market a long time, working with established builders managing operations throughout the state and contributing to the construction of more than 20,000 homes. Now I’m taking that experience and using it to create something dynamic that stays in step with the constantly evolving needs Houston-area home buyers.”
Miller most recently served as a Partner and President of EHT of Texas, the US division of Empire Communities. James, along with Wade Bradow, launched the Empire US division in September of 2016. Over a seven-year period, the Texas division established operations in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio and opened over 30 communities. Prior to Empire, James worked for over 26 years at McGuyer Homebuilders, functioning as Region President for the last 10 years.
In the Montgomery area, Autograph Homes is showcasing two collections at Two Step Farms: The Symphony Collection and the Trio Collection. The five floor plans range from 1,765 to 2,497 SF with pricing from the mid $300,000s. The homes offer three to four bedrooms with several available customizations.
“These homes offer urban energy in a quieter suburban setting, with the Trio Collection meant for people who don’t want a big weekend chore list because yard maintenance is taken care of,” Miller said. “The Symphony Collection will have backyards that connect to a community lawn. Plus, the widely varied elevations allow for a more varied streetscape.”
Autograph Homes will offer more traditional designs in Sundance Cove in Crosby, with seven available floor plans priced from the low $300,000s and ranging from 2.049 to 2,884 SF, and in Aldeana, a new community along the Highway 288 corridor offering two collections of floor plans priced from the high $200,000s. The 18 floor plans range from 1,537 to 2,599 SF. Home sales in Two Step Farm, Sundance Cove and Aldeana are expected to begin late summer 2025.
“In addition to the collections of homes in these master-planned communities, we are showing even more range in Spring Branch,” Miller said. “Our Design Build Collection features three homes priced at more than $1.4 million offering up to 4,482 SF. We will have another Spring Branch project called Caywood Place coming soon this summer that will be a mid-range, filling the gap between the semi-custom homes we are building and the single-family homes we will be selling in our current master-planned communities.”
Miller said he expects to announce two additional communities later this year. By the end of 2025, Miller estimates Autograph Homes will have 10 communities in the Houston market.
“This is a good, aggressive launch,” he said. “In five years, we want Autograph Homes to be an established brand in the Houston new home building space with a presence in the most widely recognized communities in the region,” he said. “We want to be known for innovative designs and home types that appeal to a wide range of buyers.”
Houston led the nation in single-family home building in 2024 with over 50,000 building permits, but a leading market analyst says it will be hard to maintain the building boom in 2025. The Houston metro area was well ahead of the pack last year, as population and job growth stimulated demand.
National leader Houston recorded 52,851 single-family building permits in 2024, followed by Dallas with 47,045 and Phoenix with 30,166.
Joining Miller at Autograph Homes is another longtime veteran of the Texas housing industry, Wade Bradow, who serves as Executive Vice President. Throughout his career, Bradow has managed all aspects of land acquisition and development, financing homebuilding operations and led land development projects, accounting, legal and human resources.
Bradow has over 30 years of experience within the homebuilding and real estate industries. He most recently served as a Partner and Executive Vice President of EHT of Texas, the US division of Empire Communities. Prior to Empire, Wade worked for over 26 years at McGuyer Homebuilders, functioning as Division President of Land Acquisitions for all the major Texas markets for the last seven years.
