Houston —The Coats Rose law firm, which handled the noteworthy acquisition of the land for the 385-acre Exxon Mobil campus north of Houston, has relocated its offices.

Coats Rose moved to 9 Greenway Plaza from 3 Greenway Plaza and will operate on the 10th and 11th floors. The firm’s Clear Lake area office joined the new, expanded location, which measures 50,000 sf.

The Greenway Plaza mixed-use project, developed by Kenneth Schnitzer, is located near the Southwest Freeway and Buffalo Speedway in the Inner Loop of Houston. Greenway is now owned by Cousins Properties of Atlanta.

Coats Rose attorneys have been instrumental in numerous construction and real estate projects throughout Texas and Louisiana, including the Sugar Land Water Treatment capital improvement project, the redevelopment of the historic Texaco Building in Downtown Houston, the land acquisition for the ExxonMobil campus north of Houston, the acquisition of Camp Strake, and a new building for the University Hospital in San Antonio, as well as successfully defending the Orleans Parish (La.) School Board in a construction project dispute, and leveling bidding practices for construction at the New Orleans (La.) Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Ron McWherter and Paul Penland, with CBRE in Houston, represented Coats Rose in lease negotiations. April Miller, Project Management Director with CBRE’s Project Management team, guided the design service and construction selection and process, along with vendor coordination for the relocation.

“We have valued our 12-year relationship with Coats Rose and were pleased to partner with the firm for their office relocation and expansion. The relocation allowed Coats Rose to redesign the office interior and incorporate work space efficiencies, which will offer economic benefits for the future,” said McWherter, CBRE First Vice President.

Coats Rose is a business transaction and litigation law firm based in Houston, Texas. For more than 25 years, Coats Rose attorneys have worked with clients in construction/surety law, real estate law, commercial litigation of all types, municipal law, public finance, affordable housing, insurance law, labor and employment law, and governmental relations. Coats Rose is comprised of over 90 attorneys, with offices in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and New Orleans.
