ARLINGTON, Texas – The Arlington City Council has approved an agreement with the Texas Rangers baseball club for a $200 million entertainment complex near the Globe Life Park stadium.
The project, called Texas Live!, will be developed by the Rangers and Baltimore-based Cordish Companies.
The entertainment complex, slated to open in 2017, will have 100,000 square feet with restaurants and bars, a 300-room hotel and 35,000 square feet of convention space.
Cordish, which developed the Bayou Place in downtown Houston, recently completed a highly acclaimed entertainment complex adjacent to the St. Louis Cardinals stadium.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The St. Louis entertainment complex is an outstanding blend of baseball and multi-story retail/restaurant space in a walkable environment. With an opening of the outfield of the stadium, it allows for an expansion of the stadium environment to surrounding retail. Plus there is a transit rail stop adjacent to the St. Louis stadium. If Cordish can achieve in Texas, what it achieved in St. Louis, the Arlington development will be a strong addition to the city.
