Dunham Starts 1,327-Acre Community in Northwest Houston

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The development team led by former Conoco, ConocoPhillips and Chesapeake Energy chairman Archie Dunham has broken ground on Dunham Pointe, a 1,327-acre near Highway 290 in northwest Houston.

Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Tri Pointe Homes and Toll Brothers will add new homes on the community’s 50, 60 and 70-foot homesites. Prices begin in the $300,000s.

At build out, Dunham Pointe phases one and two are projected to accommodate approximately 1,000 single-family homes.

Pre-sales for Dunham Pointe’s first phase are expected to begin in August with six model homes opening in the fall.  Move-in ready homes are scheduled to be available later in the year.

The community’s footprint also includes more than 300 acres for restaurants, retail, office, medical and multi-family facing Highway 290.  Residents also are minutes from several churches along with shopping and dining in Fairfield Town Center.

The Dunham Pointe site is east of the Grand Parkway, on the south side of Highway 290, near Mason Road.

The Highway 290 Corridor has gained momentum recently. Land developer David Wolff, a driving force in developing Houston’s Energy Corridor, recently said the 290 corridor is emerging as a desirable district going forward.

“With Dunham Pointe, we’ve created a quality community that checks all the boxes – a location near employment centers, accessibility to major thoroughfares, onsite schools offering all three levels of education, first-class amenities and of course, well-appointed new homes from some of Houston’s finest builders,” says Cary Dunham, executive vice president of Dunham Pointe Development.

Dunham Pointe’s Amenity Center will offer an expansive family pool with cabanas, adult lap pool, splash pad, fitness center and children’s playground.  Residents also will enjoy an inviting Great Room with both open-air and enclosed spaces for fitness classes and community activities.  Construction of the Amenity Center will begin in August with completion aimed for summer 2022.

Dunham Pointe’s Education Village will consist of a new Cy-Fair ISD elementary, middle school and high school plus several sports facilities.  In addition to the three new schools, the 146-acre setting will be home to a fire station operated by Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9.

The community’s footprint also includes more than 300 acres for restaurants, retail, office, medical and multi-family facing Highway 290.  Residents also are minutes from several churches along with shopping and dining in Fairfield Town Center.

Dunham Pointe represents the development team’s second and largest master-planned community to date.  Its first community, Stone Creek, opened in 2016 in Hockley featuring 1,225 single-family homes, clubhouse pool and lakes.
