East River Lands HQ Lease

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report)  – Orion Group Holdings, a marine construction firm, is moving its global headquarters to Midway’s 150-acre East River development near the eastern edge of downtown Houston.

Orion Group Holdings leased 63,519 SF in two East River office buildings, elevating the deveopment’s office occupancy rate to 95 percent in the mixed-use development,  which has over a mile of frontage on Buffalo Bayou.

A significant number of maritime organizations have established a presence at East River along the waterway with historical ties to Houston’s founders.

“We are thrilled to welcome Orion Group Holdings to East River,” said Brad Freels, Midway’s Chairman and CEO. “Joining leading companies like Anton Paar USA, Suderman & Young, and Port Houston who are establishing their headquarters here, their presence underscores the development’s appeal to leading companies and its burgeoning role as a hub for maritime-linked industries.”

Serving the infrastructure, industrial and building sectors, Orion Group Holdings, Inc. provides specialty construction services both on and off the water in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and the Caribbean Basin through its marine segment and its concrete segment. The company’s new East River headquarters will feature flexible workspaces, advanced technology infrastructure, and access to East River’s retail, dining, and recreational amenities, as well as the Buffalo Bayou trail system, with future water taxi services connecting to downtown.

Shares of Orion Group are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

“We are thrilled to announce the consolidation and move next year of our three Houston offices, including our headquarters, to the East River location, a vibrant community near downtown Houston that embodies our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence,” said Travis Boone, CEO of Orion Group Holdings. “What makes this move even more special is that we will be relocating into two buildings constructed by our very own concrete segment. This new location will not only bring our teams together under one roof, but it will also provide a dynamic environment that fosters growth and creativity.”

The lease agreement for Orion Group Holdings was brokered by Collin Grimes and Bill Boyer from CBRE, along with Amanda Nebel from Parkway, representing Midway and East River.

East River, located on the former Brown & Root campus on 150 acres near the intersection of Clinton Drive and Jensen Drive.

Today, construction on East River’s 26-acre first phase is complete, and several office tenants have moved into their new spaces including Impact Networking, Method Architecture, TEAL and Suderman & Young. OJB Landscape Architecture has moved into their new building, one of the first “Studios” for-sale office buildings, and The Laura multifamily community has welcomed its first tenants.
