HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) — Fuddruckers Restaurants will open 10 new restaurants, including five in Texas, in regional malls owned by Brookfield Properties.
Fuddruckers, is owned by Houston-based Black Titan Franchise Systems, a minority-owned business led by Nicholas Perkins, acquired the hamburger outfit last year.
The new Fuddruckers will open in Willowbrooks Mall in northwest Houston, in Hulen Mall in Fort Worth, in Town East Mall in Mesquite, The Parks in Arlington, and in North Star Mall in San Antonio.
Other new Fuddruckers will be added in Brookfield malls in Alabama, Georgia, California and North Carolina.
“We anticipate creating approximately 150 new jobs in these areas, further expanding our Fuddruckers family of employees,” Perkins said. “These new locations will continue to grow our customer base, create new jobs and showcase our World’s Greatest Hamburgers.”
Fuddruckers was founded in 1979 by Phil Romano, who is highly regarded as a creator of restaurant concepts. He opened the first Fuddruckers in San Antonio with glassed-in coolers and hanging sides of beef, emphasizing the freshness of the food. Romano has created more than 20 restaurant concepts in his career, including Romano’s Macaroni Grill and EatZi’s.
The chain was part of the Luby’s organization for a a number of years and it is now moving ahead under Perkins’ leadership.
