Hillwood Opens Houston Office to Expand to Industrial Business

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Hillwood, a global real estate firm led by Ross Perot Jr., has opened an office in Houston as part of a plan to expand its industrial warehouse development business in the Houston area.

Years ago, the Dallas-based firm developed the 27,000-acre Alliance Texas development, which has an airport, in north Fort Worth. From there, Hillwood expanded its industrial efforts across the nation and into Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland and Europe. Those properties total about 250 million SF.

The company also employs a strategy of acquiring and holding large tracts of land for future devklpment. “Hillwood pursues well-located, functional land in the path of progress and has one of the largest land banks with a capacity of over 138.8 million SF for future development,” Hillwood says.

Jordan Bookstaff has been named market director based in the company’s new Houston office. He will lead land prospecting, asset marketing and leasing, and general business development for the key Houston industrial market.

Hillwood is already active in Houston – working on nearly three million SF in the area. A build-to-suit project is located on the Sam Houston Parkway in south Houston between I-45 and  Highway 288. Pinnacle Logistics Park is a multi-phase, master-planned industrial park slated for seven buildings with up to 1.8 million SF of space in the northwest Houston.

“While we have been active in Houston for many years and currently have two projects under construction, this is an opportune time to open our Houston office and establish a more significant presence in the market,” said Toby Rogers, Hillwood Executive Vice President.

In addition, another Hillwood division has been involved in master planned community development in the Houston area, including  Valencia in Manvel, near Hillwood’s first Houston community, Pomona. Hillwood recently acquired 540 acres of land in League City for a residential development in northern Galveston County.
