HOUSTON – A major master-planned community – that will eventually have 6,000 homes – is underway in northwest Houston.
Home builders will begin construction in June on 10 model homes for the first phase of Elyson, its 3,642-acre community at Grand Parkway and FM 529, approximately six miles north of I-10 West.
Chesmar Homes, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, Pulte, Trendmaker Homes and Westin Homes will build in the first phase of Elyson, which will include 337 homes. The community’s grand opening is planned for this fall.
Overall, Elyson is planned for more than 6,000 single-family homes, along with more than 750 acres of parks, trails, recreation centers, waterways and natural open space.
Elyson is owned in a joint venture partnership between American Newland Communities, LLC (Newland) and North America Sekisui House, Ltd. (NASH).
Homes in the first phase of Elyson are expected to be priced from the high $200,000s to the $600,000s and up. The first phase will include five neighborhoods for five different price ranges, with homesites offered in 50-, 55-, 60-, 65- and 70-foot widths.
Elyson is the fourth community that Newland has developed in the Katy Independent School District. The largest, the 8,100-acre Cinco Ranch community, has consistently ranked as one of the top-selling communities in the nation, and is expected to be built out by 2018. Newland has also completed Seven Meadows and Grayson Lakes in Katy ISD.
Newland is the largest private developer of master-planned mixed-use communities in the United States, with more than 45 years of community development experience and with more than 40 communities currently under development in 14 states.
NASH is the U.S. business operations unit and a full subsidiary of Sekisui House Ltd., Japan’s largest homebuilder and a leading diversified developer since 1960.
