Khaleeq Appointed to Houston Planning and Airport Commission

HOUSTON –  Sami Khaleeq, a Houston entrepreneur with a flair for both cybersecurity and digital media, has been appointed by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to serve on the esteemed Houston Planning and Airport Commission.

Khaleeq is one of the youngest Houstonians to ever serve on the planning and airport commission, which is charged with managing issues pertaining to the growth and development of Houston, one of the nation’s fastest growing and diverse cities.

Supporters, friends and colleagues attended the recent ceremony to witness Khaleeq’s installation at City Hall, including attendees from Washington, D.C., Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas; as well as esteemed members of the Consular Corps, many elected officials from various posts, and notable representatives from diverse community groups.

“Sami, you are one of the youngest to serve,” Mayor Turner said. “You probably brought the largest delegation of anyone. I am in awe. So, let me thank all of you for coming and supporting not only Sami but the entire group. Congratulations.”

Khaleeq is the founder of Houston-based CGS, a digital media marketing and consulting firm, and ARES Cyber group, a cyber security consultancy that specializes in digital forensics and cyber crimes. He also serves on the board of directors of the World Chamber of Commerce Texas, the OPEN Houston entrepreneur organization and Houston Community College & San Jacinto College Advisory Boards.

As co-author of the book Rise of the Personal Brand, Khaleeq explores how brands and businesses are built in the era of social media dominance.

“Sami is an incredibly intelligent individual. I am deeply thankful to the City Council for this insightful appointment,” said District Attorney Brian Middleton. “Having someone of Sami’s character serve our community is indeed a gift.”

Over the years, Sami has harnessed technology to combat human trafficking. As a Certified Human Trafficking Investigator, he has launched numerous community-centric awareness initiatives and frequently collaborates with federal agencies and local law enforcement on issues related to Cyber Trafficking and Cyber Grooming.

“Houston is a city of opportunities, a melting pot of cultures, and a hub of innovation. I am honored to be appointed to the city’s planning and airport commission and I appreciate the Mayor and City Council’s remarkable display of commitment to young leaders and the pursuit of future excellence,” Khaleeq said. “The mayor’s appointment is not just a milestone for me but also marks a significant moment in the history of Houston. The trust vested in me by both the Mayor and the larger community signifies a forward-looking City of Houston that embraces inclusivity, innovation, and dedication of a future generation.”
