Lennar Starts in 1730-Acre Community

HOCKLEY, Texas — (Realty News Report) – Lennar has started construction on more than 200 homes in The Highlands section of The Grand Prairie, a master-planned community in Hockley on the northwest side of Houston.

The Grand Prairie is a 1,730-acre master-planned community located 35 miles from Downtown Houston and about six miles west of the Grand Parkway and one mile south of Highway 290.

The Grand Prairie is being developed by EMBER Real Estate Investment & Development,  a Houston land development firm founded by Harry Masterson, Jordan Mack and Vicente Rangel.

Lennar, a publicly traded national home builder based in Miami, is the exclusive builder in The Highlands section of The Grand Prairie. There, Lennar is offering a selection of homes on 40-, 45-, and 50-foot lots, with houses ranging from 1,325 to 3,244 SF. Prices range from the $250,000s to $370,000s. Two model homes are complete

“Our goal in partnering with Lennar was to help provide homebuyers with a variety of price-point options within the overall master planned community,” stated Jeb Kolby, director of development for EMBER.

A total of six home builders including David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes, Sitterle Homes, Village Builders and Westin Homes will be active in The Grand Prairie.

The most expensive homes in the community will cost more than $600,000.

The community is zoned to Waller Independent School District.

Last year the Hines organization acquired 528 acres  in northwest Houston where it will develop a new master planned community with 1,400 homes. Hines was founded in Houston in 1957 by Mr. Gerald D. Hines.
