HOUSTON — Apartment developer Marvy Finger is developing a seven-story apartment building adjacent to the left field wall of Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.
The 380 unit project will be located on two downtown blocks bounded by Preston, Crawford, Texas and La Branch streets, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle.
When the stadium was new Trammell Crow had proposed building a mixed use tower called Ballpark Place on the site, but Crow shelved plans for it after Enron collapsed and the downtown realty market soured. Finger plans to close on the Crow site this summer and begin the new building next spring, the newspaper said.
Finger also developed the One Park Place high-rise residential tower in downtown, next to Discovery Green park. It is 94 percent leased with rents starting at $2000 a month.
