Ralph Bivins’ Realty News Report Awards – The Best of Houston 2015
Realty News Report editor Ralph Bivins has selected the most significant projects, deals and ideas of the Houston real estate market for 2015. These aren’t necessarily the largest or the first. But the deals point to future trends, potential gold mines, noble visions and notable accomplishments by the smart professionals who are making them happen.
Ralph Bivins’ Realty News Report Awards – The Best of Houston 2015:
Realty News Report Award for:
Best Redevelopment Deal of the Year – It’s an opportunity that does not come along very often – 16 acres of downtown property. The U.S. Postal Service sold the site, which fronts Buffalo Bayou, to Lovett Commercial, a Houston development firm led by Frank Liu. Lovett will convert at least a portion of the 517,000 square feet of existing postal building, 401 Franklin, into office space. The project, which will include residential and retail, is key for transforming the bayou frontage into a higher use. Located close to the Amtrak train station, the Post Office site could be incorporated into a plan to bring high-speed rail from Dallas to downtown Houston.
