X Houston Tower Underway in Museum District

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report)– X Company has broken ground on X Houston, a 33-story, co-living high-amenity community in the Museum District.

Hoar Construction, the general contractor, is expected to complete the 750,000-SF project in the third quarter of 2024.

With a high level of amenities and clubs designed for a young demographic, the 475-unit X Houston will be located a couple of blocks from Hermann Park.

The building will boast elevated amenities including an outdoor pool, bar area, yoga studio and fitness center. It will also feature multiple coworking spaces including breakout rooms, offices, conference rooms, design studios, podcast recording studios and ground level retail. The amenities will be available for nonresidents as well, as part of the X Club offering,

“We are introducing several new state-of-the-art amenities that are unlike any other in the market, differentiating X Houston from other nearby multifamily developments,” said Ryan Hart, project manager at Hoar. “Our team at Hoar is proud to play a role in growing the multifamily landscape of Houston and constructing a premier mixed-use environment that is custom-tailored for the young professionals that are gravitating to this area.”

Located on La Branch Street, the site is near the Children’s Museum and Binz Street.

“This is our first project in Houston – actually our first in Texas.  The supply-demand dynamics of the Houston market is very attractive right now,” said Chicago-based The X Company partner Ben Brichta.  “X Houston will deliver much needed housing to one of the fastest growing cities in America and offer unparalleled value to our resident and club members.”

The X company has completed the 813-bed X Denver near Denver’s Union Station, a 500-bed X project in downtown Phoenix.

Other X projects are under development in Tampa, Oakland and Denver.

At the X Houston, the development team includes The Lamar Johnson Collaborative as the architect of record, with Workshop/APD as the interior designer.  Kimley-Horn, Thornton-Tomasetti, and Blum Consulting Engineers provided engineering services.

The co-living and micro-unit apartments are springing up in Houston’s Inner Loop. Recenly, a six-story residential tower with micro-units, co-living and roommate-oriented apartments is under construction in the Montrose district of Houston. Civitas Capital Group, through its residential development subsidiary The Shelter Companies, is developing the 238-unit, 381-bed project at 701 Richmond Avenue, about three blocks east of Montrose Boulevard.
