HOUSTON – StreetLights Residential has broken ground on The Carter – a 20-story, 305-unit multifamily tower in the Montrose area of Houston’s Inner Loop.

Dallas-based StreetLights Residential was started by several of the senior investment officers from Gables Residential.

“The Carter high-rise is a wonderful addition to the Montrose area’s rapidly growing population with its close proximity to several of Houston’s main attractions,” said StreetLights CEO Doug Chesnut.

Just south of the Southwest Freeway, the two-acre project site is on Chelsea Blvd., between Montrose and Travis St. in the Museum District, between downtown and the Medical Center,

Designed by Gromatzky Dupree & Associates the high-rise will be comprised of 305 units with one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plansi n addition to townhouse and penthouses.

The interiors are also being designed by GDA, and the landscape will be designed by Lynda Tycher & Associates. SLR Texas Construction is serving as the general contractor. The Carter is expected to deliver its first units in early 2016, with project completion slated for late 2017.

StreetLights Residential specializes in high-end, new urbanist apartment homes and mixed-use developments. The company has 80 employees in our development and construction companies with over $1 billion in its development pipeline with offices in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Diego.

SLR Texas Construction was formed in 2011, with regional offices in Dallas, Austin and Houston.
