Johnson Starts New Community with MI Homes

HOUSTON  – (Realty News Report) —  Johnson Development Services and M/I Homes have started construction on a 238-acre residential development in Harris County along the FM 2920 corridor near Mueschke Road on the northwest side of Houston.

Houston is ranked second in the nation in home construction, right behind Dallas. With a shortage of homes and mortgage rates around 3 percent, home sales should continue at a strong pace.

With home starts on a rampage, land sales have been brisk with developers creating home sites to meet developers need for lots.

The new Johnson- M/I community, which is named Sorella, will include a mix of 40- and 50-foot homesites and half-acre lots around an amenity lake. Lot delivery is expected at the end of next year with model homes and inventory homes available by spring 2023.

“This is a fast-growing area with excellent access to major thoroughfares, including the Grand Parkway and Highway 249,” said Michael Cox, President of Johnson Development Services. “Sorella will offer a laidback lifestyle without sacrificing easy access to everyday conveniences.”

Sorella will have 838 homesites, 433 of which be  M/I Homes homes starting in the $200,000s. Jay McManus is Houston Division President for M/I Homes.

Johnson Development Services will sell its 405 homesites in the Sorella communnityto Newmark Homes and Beazer Homes. Beazer Homes will continue its successful homebuilding program, expanding its offerings from the nearby Amira community, while Newmark Homes will look to establish a strong foothold in the growing FM 2920 corridor submarket, said Cox of Johnson Development Services.

Johnson Development has built a number of master planned communities in the Houston area, including Cross Creek Ranch, Harvest Green, Imperial, Jordan Ranch, Sienna,  Riverstone, Edgewater, Fall Creek, Grand Central Park, Harmony, Tuscan Lakes, Willow Creek Farms and Woodforest
