MetroNational Hires JLL to Lease New Vacant Tower

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – MetroNational has hired JLL to lease the vacant three-year-old office tower it acquired last month near the southeast corner of I-10 and Beltway 8 in West Houston.

The Class A tower has commonly been called the Marathon Oil building because Marathon was the initial occupant.

But now, with Marathon gone, the 451,000-SF building is named after its address – 990 Town and Country Blvd.

Houston-based MetroNational acquired the office tower last month. The Marathon Oil company was acquired by ConocoPhillips and the building was vacated shortly thereafter.

The 990 Town and Country building is adjacent to the restaurants, retail, multifamily and office space in the 50-acre CityCentre, which was developed by Houston-based Midway.

JLL’s Jon Dutton, Tyler Garrett and Jack Russo will handle office leasing of 990 Town and Country on behalf of MetroNational.

“990 Town and Country Blvd. represents the highest quality building in the tightest submarket in the city,” said JLL’s Dutton.

The 990 Town and Country building was designed by architecture firm Munoz + Albin and developed by Hines. Munoz + Albin and Hines teamed up on the development of the 46-story Brava apartment tower in Downtown Houston.

“Partnering with JLL allows us to bring new energy and momentum to the leasing process at 990 Town and Country Blvd.,” said Brad MacDougall, Vice President of Office Leasing at MetroNational.

The building is less than a mile away from MetroNational’s 300-acre Memorial City mixed-use development.

“For over 70 years, MetroNational has remained deeply committed to investing in West Houston, as evidenced by our long-standing dedication to the growth and evolution of Memorial City,” said Jason Johnson, CEO of MetroNational in a statement last month when the firm bought the building. “Our vision continues to shape the future of West Houston, and the addition of 990 Town and Country represents a unique opportunity to expand our office portfolio just steps away from Memorial City – further reinforcing our commitment to creating exceptional places to work, connect and thrive.”
