HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Howard Hughes Corp. has two new parks in its 11,400-acre Bridgeland master planned community in northwest Houston.
The Bridgeland community ranked 10thin the nation in new home sales at midyear 2020, according to the RCLCO advisory firm. Bridgeland, located in the Cypress area, recorded 425 homes in the first half of 2020, up 21 percent from 351 in the comparable period of 2019.
Bridgeland’s two new parks are named Live Oak Park and Celebration Park.
“The addition of these parks fits into our overarching mission to utilize the environment to help promote outdoor activities which enhance health and wellness for those who live here,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities, Residential, The Howard Hughes Corp.
The new parks amenities include: open green space, a new pavilion, tables, lounge seating and gas grill installations that will be adjacent to custom play features, plug-ins for food truck activations, a dog park, a deck area with ping pong tables, and unique rain gardens, with bike rack will encourage residents to cycle on trails.
Howard Hughes Corp. also developed The Woodlands and Summerlin, a massive Las Vegas community that ranks near the top of national home-sales rankings.
The Houston-based company’s CEO, Paul Layne, recently announced his retirement. Layne, 63, has been a leader in the Houston real estate community for many years.
David O’Reilly, President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer of the company.
As the New York Stock Exchange opened Monday, shares of HHC were trading at $58 per share.
