HOUSTON – The Greater Houston Partnership has announced plans for a new $76 million 110,000-square-foot headquarters office building and parking garage adjacent to the city’s convention center.

The Partnership will occupy the top two floors of the downtown facility, which will be built on a parcel bounded by Rusk, Capitol, Avenida De Las Americas and U.S. 59. The project’s 1,900-space parking garage will be connected by skybridge to the George R. Brown Convention Center.

The project will be owned by Houston First, the  agency that operates the city’s convention, arts and entertainment venues.  The headquarters of Houston First and its Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau arm also will be located in the building.

The 10-story building, named after the partnership, will have 4,500 square feet of street level retail and a 2,000 square foot terrace at the top of the structure, which is slated for completion in 2016.

WHR Architects is lead architect on the project. The Partnership is currently located at 1600 Smith.

A 1,000-room Marriott Marquis is under construction next to the convention center and the Discovery Green park.
