AUSTIN – A groundbreaking was held Monday for The Independent, a 58-story condominium that will be the tallest residential tower in Texas.
The project will have 370 condos priced from the mid- $400,000s to $3.4 million. The site is at the northeast corner of West Third Street and West Avenue, next to Shoal Creek.
The Independent is developed by two Austin firms, Constructive Ventures and Aspen Heights and the CIM Group of Los Angeles.
In December, The Independent’s development group announced it had closed on the $14.5 million purchase of 1.7 acres of land located at the northeast corner of West Third Street and West Avenue in downtown Austin from the City of Austin, enabling site work to begin.
The developers say a significant number of buyers have already committed to purchasing units. Balfour Beatty Construction, should complete the $300 million tower in 2018. Architecture is by Rhode: Partners.
