BAYTOWN, Texas – The 15,000-acre TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park – the largest rail and barge served industrial park in America – has completed construction on a massive amount of rail line.
Located just east of Houston, the industrial park is meeting exceptional high demand from raw plastic pellet producers that use rail cars extensively. The developer, TGS Cedar Port Partners, is adding storage for an additional 3,000 rail cars. Other recently completed rail lines have opened up more parts of the Cedar Port project for rail-served industrial developments.
Some 11,079 acres in Cedar Port remain available for sale, including three miles of waterfront for barges. John Ferruzzo, John Simons and Joel Michael of NAI Partners represent the owner.
Cedar Port, where U.S. Steel’s Texas Works plant was once located, is about three miles from Exxon Mobil’s massive Baytown refinery. The site has easy barge access to the Barbour’s Cut Terminal at the Port of Houston. The industrial park, formerly known as Cedar Crossing, was purchased by TGS about two years ago and the new owner spent millions for rail and drainage improvements.
