HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – DC Partners, a Houston-based real estate and development firm, has expanded its national presence with the acquisition of New York-based Design Build Partners.
The strategic collaboration between the two firms will integrate development and construction, as well as acquisitions, capital and asset management.
DC Partners Primed for ‘Substantial Growth’ Outside of Texas
“This acquisition presents a tremendous opportunity for DC Partners to achieve substantial growth outside of Texas and aligns perfectly with our robust 10-year vision,” said Acho Azuike, DC Partners’ chief operating officer, in the merger announcement.
(Acho Azuike, the COO of DC Partners, was a guest on The Ralph Bivins Project podcast.)
The pairing of the firms broadens capabilities, opens new potential markets and enables larger development projects.
The new leadership team has Arsean Maqami, managing partner at Design Build Partners, as co-president at DC Partners with Roberto Contreras IV, previously senior vice president. This strategic acquisition allows the firm to expand current capital markets and increase construction and development capabilities, the company said.
Founder Roberto Contreras will retain his role as CEO and board chairman. Leadership also includes Azuike as COO; Emilio Guzman, chief of investor relations; and Julie Kleine, chief marketing officer. Patel joins the executive team as chief financial officer. Blake Berg, also a managing partner at Design Build Partners, becomes senior vice president of development and construction.
“By merging, we are building on the foundation that both firms have set in high-end mixed use residential and commercial developments around the country, said Maqami.
Design Build Partners’ notable project experience includes: The Collection, in San Diego; Esplande Aventura in Aventura, Fla.; Westfield Galleria in Roseville, CA; Corbin Collection in West Hartford, CT; and McKinney Square, a boutique office in McKinney, Texas.
Established in 2011, DC Partners has a portfolio exceeding $1 billion. Among its high-rise developments in Houston are Astoria, Arabella, Marlowe, and Chateau Ten; as well as iconic mixed-use developments: The Arts Residences and Thompson San Antonio hotel, 4411 San Felipe, and The Allen, which includes Residences at The Allen, The Pavilion, and Thompson Houston hotel.
