De Rigueur: East River Gains a Fitness Studio

HOUSTON  – (Realty News Report) – HOTWORX, a fitness studio, has leased space in Midway’s East River, a transformational mixed-use development near  the  eastern edge of downtown Houston.

HOTWORX has leased 1,700 space located on the ground floor of the parking garage, the innovative 24-hour infrared fitness studio is slated to open fall 2024.

The unique fitness concept combines 24-hour access to virtually instructed workouts within infrared sauna environments. This method integrates heat, infrared energy, and exercise to provide an efficient workout experience. The studio offers semi-private infrared saunas sized 7×9 feet, optimizing the absorption of infrared radiant energy, which is beneficial for the body’s regenerative processes. The workouts include a variety of programs such as Hot Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Cycle, and HIIT, led by virtual instructors specialized in each discipline.

“Their commitment to health and wellness aligns perfectly with our vision,” said Laura Harness, Senior Director of Retail Leasing at Parkway, which represents the East River landlord. “We believe HOTWORX will be a significant addition, enhancing the lifestyle and wellness options available to our residents and visitors.”

The HOTWORX studio at East River will also include a space equipped with weights, bands, ropes, and other tools for functional training exercises.

The facility will be staffed during normal business hours and open 24 hours a day, with app-based and personal safety devices for access control and medical emergencies.

Construction on East River’s 26-acre first phase is complete. The Laura multifamily community welcomed its first residents earlier this year, and several tenants have moved into their new spaces including Le Tesserae by The Astorian, Impact Networking, Method Architecture, TEAL, Suderman & Young Towing Company and OJB Landscape Architecture. A number of retail, dining and entertainment establishments are set to open this fall, further enhancing the live-work-play environment. Confirmed tenants include CoolXDad, City Cellars HTX, Kyuramen, La Calle Tacos & Cantina, Lick Honest Ice Creams, Tomi Jewelry, URBN Dental, EADO Eye Studio, Houston Maritime Center + Museum and Champions Mortgage. Additionally, Orion Holdings Group, Inc., Anton Paar USA, and Port Houston have all selected East River for their headquarters locations. Port Houston’s new headquarters is being developed by Midway within the first phase, while Anton Paar USA has purchased a prime tract to construct its new South Region headquarters.

East  River has a mile of waterfront along Buffalo Bayou, near Jensen Drive.
