Five-Story Medical Building Underway in Generation Park

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The McCord organization is developing a 101,000-SF medical office building in Generation Park in northeast Houston.

Designed by Kirksey Architecture to be the signature architectural centerpiece of Redemption Square, the five-story building will feature a glass façade with picturesque views of the adjacent West Lake Park. The building, which overlooks recreational amenities designed to cultivate healthy lifestyles, will provide a central location for the greater Lake Houston community to take care of themselves from the inside out.

“Good design is grounded in the human experience, and our people-centric approach is what continues to bring people and businesses to Generation Park,” said owner of Generation Park and President of McCord, Ryan McCord. “We are making any medical experience as pleasurable as possible for both practitioners and patients. A small, but paramount, part of creating that experience was ensuring you can see the lake at West Lake Park from every floor.”

Generation Park is a 4,000-acre master-planned development  near Beltway 8, east of Highway 59, about a 10-minute drive from IAH Bush airport.

$5 Billion at Build-Out

In 2012, when the development was announced, the project  was projected to be at build-out a  $5 billion worth of industrial, office, retail and medical space, along with hotel and multifamily development.

In 2017, Generation Park was promoted as a possible location for Amazon’s HQ2, which ended as a citywide embarrassment as Houston failed to make the list of 20 finalists, the largest city in the nation to be excluded from the Amazon short list. However, the HQ2 effort spotlighted Generation Park as a possible player for future corporate campuses.

The new medical building opens the door for additional medical development in the McCord project. It will be located in the denser Redemption Square town center of Generation Park

“Given the paramount value of quality medical care, and the limited options in the surrounding area, McCord is developing a first-class medical office building for the growing Lake Houston community,” said former Chief Operating Officer for the Texas Medical Center and current General Counsel and Director of Life Sciences for McCord, Shawn Cloonan. “The combination of professional healthcare expertise, emphasis on innovative design, and a naturally beautiful setting within Redemption Square is optimal for patients and providers alike.”

Generation Park’s two colleges, San Jacinto College and Lone Star College, offer the added benefit of near on-site workforce and recruiting tool for any medical practice; from general family medicine to neurology and oncology or physical therapy.

A short, covered walkway, lined with ample lighting, will connect the medical office building to Redemption Square’s five-story parking garage.
