HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Hanover Company has completed Kirby 288, a 213,000-SF speculative industrial project .

The development is west of Highway 288, at the northwest corner of Kirby Drive and Mowrey Road  on the south side of Houston.

“Kirby 288 reflects the kind of disciplined industrial development we believe creates long-term value,” said James Melody, Development Partner at Hanover. “The facility is functionally designed and strategically positioned to effectively serve Houston’s warehousing and logistics needs”

Powers Brown is the architect for the project. Robert McGee, principal at Colliers, is leasing the development, which is eight miles west of Hobby Airport and about two miles due south of the historic Astrodome. It’s 29 miles from the Barbours Cut Terminal, a major container shipping facility created by the Port of Houston.

Earlier this year Griffin Partners announced it is developing Griffin 288/West Airport, a project totaling 568,619 SF in three buildings in the south Houston submarket.

The south side of Houston has seen a significant amount of new construction.

A number of new warehouse developments are under construction or have been recently completed along Beltway 8 on the south side of Houston. Many of the new projects are located west of Telephone Road and east of Highway 90. It should be considered one of the top corridors in the nation for newly built distribution buildings.
