Newpark Drilling Fluids, an oilfield supplier, is moving into a new 100,000-sf building being constructed for it in Houston’s Energy Corridor, according to the Houston Business Journal. The project is located just north of Interstate 10 and west of Mason Road on land purchased from Interfin Corp. Newpark is relocating from The Woodlands.
CBRE Group has closed on three leases totaling 26,796 sq. ft. at Sage Plaza, a 25-story building located at 5151 San Felipe Street in Houston’s Galleria/Uptown submarket. CBRE’s Bonnie Kelley led the leasing effort on behalf of the property’s landlord in all transactions, which include a 20,389 sq.-ft. renewal and expansion with Starr Technical Risks, Agency, Inc.; a 3,841 sq.-ft. renewal with Upstream A.S.; and a 2,566 sq.-ft. new Lease to Uptown Diamond and Jewelry. Rockspring Capital, a privately-owned real estate investment firm based in Houston, has acquired a commercial land tract in Rosenberg, in Houston’s southwest suburbs. The Rosenberg commercial reserve is a 10-acre property located at the northeast corner of FM 2218 and Town Center Boulevard. It is part of the larger Brazos Town Center development, which is strategically positioned as the gateway to the rapidly growing towns of Rosenberg and Richmond, said Jim McAlister IV, President and CEO of Rockspring Capital.

Hines’ new high-rise officer tower on Main Street in downtown Houston has won a design award. The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design have announced that New Haven, Connecticut-based Pickard Chilton has won a 2012 Green GOOD DESIGN Award for the firm’s design of BG Group Place in Houston.
More than 108,000 square feet have been leased in One Westchase Center, a 466,026-square-foot, Class A office building at 10777 Westheimer. The leasing activity brings the property from 80 to 95 percent leased in less than six months. Colvill Office Properties is leasing agent for the property. The landlord is Miami-based LNR Partners.
