HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – McKinley Homes, an Atlanta-based builder, has acquired Liberty Home Builders of Houston, which operates in several communities in the Houston area.
McKinley Homes currently has projects in Atlanta, Alabama, New York, North Carolina, Houston, and Tennessee and it is in an expansion mode, said Jinsong Yang, Managing Member of McKinley Homes.
“We are actively searching for new communities and land opportunities to expand our operations in Houston and other regions of Texas, and we look forward to building value for our homeowners, trade, and contractor partners, local Realtors, and local government officials,” Yang said. “Liberty Home Builders’ excellent reputation for building quality homes in desirable communities in one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation will allow us to continue the growth trajectory of our company.”
Liberty Home Builders, founded in 2013 by John Sachs, Damon Sachs, and Johnny Sullivan, has built and closed over 2,100 homes in Houston and San Antonio. In the Houston area, Liberty operates in Kings Mill, Anderson Lake, Stone Creek Ranch, Encino Estates, and Barton Place.
Liberty’s CEO John Sachs will retire and other Liberty management will continue with the McKinley Homes Houston Division.
In the acquisition of the home building company, Zelman, a subsidiary of Walker & Dunlop, served as the exclusive sell-side financial advisor to Liberty Home Builders.
Founded in 2016, the McKinley Homes development and home building team has more than 45 years of experience completing more than 20,000 lots/homes and building various commercial and residential communities, including townhome and single-family subdivisions, office buildings, apartment complexes, and multi-family high-rises.
Fueled by booming Texas population growth, Houston and Dallas have led the nation in new home construction in recent years. And in recent years, the third-place building market has fallen far below the two Texas giants.
For example, in 2022, Houston led the nation in single-family building permits with 45,584 construction permits, followed by Dallas with 41,437, according to stats from the U.S. Census Bureau. In third place, was Phoenix with 25,831 building permits
An upbeat outlook for 2025 housing was recently presented by panel of economists assembled by the National Association of Realtors.
