HOUSTON – MetroNational, a Houston-based real estate firm with extensive holdings in west Houston, will break ground later this month on an 8-floor, 327-unit midrise rental apartment tower adjacent to Memorial City Mall.
Designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects Residential, a Houston firm that has designed many residential towers, the plan the project will feature upscale amenities including a rooftop, resort style pool with unobstructed treetop views of the Memorial Villages. In addition, the project will have a club room, resident lounge, game room, fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a private rooftop pet park, as well as expansive gathering spaces designed to create an indoor/outdoor connection.
The 327 apartments will feature a mix of one, two and three bedroom units ranging in size from 555 to 1,796 square feet. Interiors will include stainless steel appliances, upgraded plumbing fixtures, under mount sinks in kitchens and baths, 8’0” doors throughout, natural stone countertops, tile backsplashes, Bluetooth speakers and custom stained wood cabinetry. The exterior architecture is designed to complement the surrounding area, with high quality materials including a mix of masonry and metal with enhanced lighting.
The tower will be located at the northwest corner of Barryknoll Lane and Memorial City Way. The apartment building is slated to open in the summer of 2019.
“This project is in response to the long-term demand for luxury residences in the Memorial City area,” said Jason Johnson, MetroNational president and vice chairman. “In addition to this new multifamily development, MetroNational is delivering 133 high-end apartments atop the new Hotel ZaZa Memorial City in 2018.”
MetroNational has selected Slate Real Estate Partners to assist in the development of the new residential project. Slate is a privately held, real estate investment business formed by a partnership between former Gables Residential senior leaders, Benjamin Pisklak and Mark Stevenson.
“The building’s innovative design and luxury amenities will complement the continued expansion of the Memorial City area,”said Pisklak.
Memorial City is a 265-acre mixed-used development owned and managed by MetroNational. Memorial City contains 8.6 million SF of Class A office space; major retail including Memorial City Mall; midrise apartments; chef-inspired restaurants; upscale hotel accommodations including The Westin Memorial City and Hotel ZaZa Memorial City, opening 2017; and the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.
