STAFFORD, Texas – (Realty News Report) – Costco is preparing to open a new kind of store – a Costco Business Center that caters to small businesses and restaurants and stores.
The store, with 148,000 SF of retail space, will sell heavy duty commercial appliances and large-scale packages of groceries, along with routine consumer-sized portions.
The new Costco Business Center, slated to open this fall, will be open to any card-carrying Costco member – individuals and businesses.
The store will be located along the Southwest Freeway at 12717 Network Drive near South Kirkwood Road and West Airport. The store is located in the City of Stafford.
Costco, which is based in Issaquah, Wash., has 15 Business Center Stores in its portfolio of more than 500 retail outlets.
Workers are putting the finishing touches on the new concept Costco store, which will sit on a 13-acre tract in The Grid development.
The Grid is a mixed-use redevelopment on the site of the former Texas Instruments campus. The Grid is being developed StreetLevel Investments and joint-venture partner Provident Realty Advisors.
“Costco is the forward-looking and nimble retailer we’ve been seeking in an anchor tenant, bringing a national reputation for its innovative retail strategy,” said Adam Schiller, Managing Principal, StreetLevel Investments in a statement earlier this year. “We are thrilled Costco selected the Grid as the first Houston location for its Business Center concept, and we look forward to a very successful grand opening.”
The Grid will integrate 350,000 SF of retail, restaurant, and entertainment concepts; 2,400 residential units; 500,000 SF of creatively focused-office space; multiple hotel brands and concepts; a health club; a network of pocket parks, jogging and bike trails; and activated public space, together in a “walkable” urban district.
In addition to new apartment projects totaling 725 units from JLB Partners, the Grid features restaurant and retail outlets including: Whiskey Cake Kitchen, Outback Steakhouse, In-N-Out, Pluckers, Torchy’s Tacos, Amegy Bank, AT&T, Chipotle, Verizon, Raising Cane’s, Panda Express, McAlister’s, 7-11, Great Clips, among others.
