Randall Davis Tops Out Condo Tower in The Village

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Randall Davis Company is topping out Chaucer, which will be a 14-story condo tower at 2360 Rice Boulevard in The Village, just west of Rice University.

The 33-unit building is expected to be completed in October 2027. The Chaucer project includes seven standard residence floor plans and five penthouse plans, ranging from 1,889 SF to 4,703 SF, with pricing from $1.7 million to $5.55 million.

Residences will feature Gaggenau/Thermador appliances, imported European cabinetry by Eggersmann, private elevator entry on select floor plans

Randall Davis, who runs the company with his daughter, Natalie, has been developing mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings in Houston and other cities for 30 years. Mr. Davis also was a leader in the trend of redeveloping historic buildings into residential uses.

In a monumental move in downtown Houston, Davis tackled the historic Rice Hotal in 1997. The once-great hotel, which had been vacant for 20 years, is located at the corner of Texas Avenue and Main Street next door to the old Houston Chronicle building. Former Chronicle reporter Ralph Bivins was first to report the Rice Hotel acquisition. Davis and Post Properties redeveloped the 17-story edifice into the rental units called the Rice Lofts.

Randall Davis developed the Arabella in Galleria/Post Oak neighborhood and the Marlowe in Downtown. His other Houston projects include Astoria, Renoir, Gotham, Metropolis, Manhattan, Empire, Rice Lofts, St. Germain, and Cosmopolitan. The company has also developed the Sapphire on South Padre Island, the Diamond Beach in Galveston, and Metropolis in Las Vegas.

Davis, with partners, also redeveloped the 1911-vintage Union National Bank Building at 220 Main Street into the Hotel Icon. The Hotel Icon is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, a group of upscale hotels with unique design and character.
