The Men’s Wearhouse Warehouse Sold

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Houston real estate broker Bill Burge reports that the 7-acre Men’s Wearhouse distribution center and corporate office has been sold.

The property was acquired by SER-Ninos Charter School, which will redevelop it into a high school.

The 141,258-SF building, 5803 Glenmont Drive, is located in the Gulfton area, between Chimney Rock and Hillcroft Avenue and it’s on the south side of the Southwest Freeway.

Jason Dillee and Nathan Wynne of CBRE represented the seller, Tailored Brands, the parent company of Men’s Wearhouse.  The Houston-based retailer filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August, another one of the casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic, which demolished many brick-and-mortar retailers. Men’s Wearhouse closed hundreds of stores, laid off employees and emerged from bankruptcy in December.

Burge, who represented SER-Ninos Charter School, said the organization also operates two elementary schools and a middle school in the Gulfton area.

SER-Niños was established in 1996 by Dianne Mancus, the Houston Hispanic Forumand community members. In 1996 SER-Niños opened it campus at the Bellaire Christian Church in the heart of the Houston Gulfton community. The school began with 155 students PreK to fourth grade. In 1997 fifth grade was added and in 2004 middle school was added.

SER-Niños,was among the first generation of Texas charter schools.
