HOUSTON – Did they really, really need a “For Sale” sign asap?
Or maybe they needed a “Reduced Price” sign in the worst way?
Lord knows why somebody would want to break into the headquarters of the Houston Association of Realtors at 3 a.m. Monday morning. But they did – allegedly, of course.
Police responded to a burglar alarm at the HAR building, 3693 Southwest Freeway at Edloe Street. Several windows were broken, but there’s no evidence that anything was stolen.
Houston Police took four men into custody. Two were inside the building and two were outside. Police said a hammer was used to break the glass.
The window to the HAR boardroom was broken. And there were broken windows at the side and rear of the HAR building, which is the sole occupant of the two-story structure.
The window to the HAR Superstore was broken, but there was no evidence that any items were stolen. The Superstore caters to Realtors only and it is a pretty big operation.
In addition to “for sale” and “for lease” and “sale pending” signs, the Realtor store stocks lock boxes, books, gifts and things like windbreakers with the “Realtor” logo.
The HAR store has a lot of potential customers. The association has over 22,000 members and is the second-largest Realtor association in the nation, behind only Miami’s.
