22 Buildings Breaking Ground at NASA

HOUSTON –  (Realty News Report) – ACMI Properties is developing 22 buildings totaling 1.5 million SF at Exploration Park, a 207-acre, built-to-suit industrial park, located on NASA’s Johnson Space Center

This development will be a hub for aerospace, advanced manufacturing, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other hardware technology industries necessary for space commerce, space exploration, and human spaceflight

JLL’s Richard Quarles, David Holland, and Angela Watford are the brokerage team for Exploration Park.

“There is no better place for the future of space exploration than NASA’s Johnson Space Center, a site that represents excellence in space discovery,” said Quarles, Senior Managing Director at JLL

ACMI Properties’ development plan includes more than 20 buildings ranging of size from 15,000 to 500,000 SF.

Initial renderings plan for facilities with 24 to 30 feet of clear height with rear or side loading, capable for use in research and development, laboratories, clean rooms, offices, light assembly, and manufacturing.

Construction on the initial phase will begin in the second quarter of 2025, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026

Austin-based ACMI Properties is the real estate development affiliate of the American Center for Manufacturing and Innovation.

Last year, the Texas A&M University System leased property at Exploration Park for development of education and research facilities.

The Texas A&M Space Institute is being constructed on a 32-acre site on Saturn Lane near the entrance to NASA.

Texas A&M University, a Space Grant university, employs four astronauts on the faculty. Also, scientists and engineers from Texas A&M have participated in all NASA rover missions to Mars with two scientists active on NASA’s Perseverance Rover Team.

In other Southeast Houston space activity, Axiom Space, which aims to develop a privately-owned space station, has developed its headquarters facility on 14 acres at Houston’s Spaceport.  And Griffin Partners developed a campus for Collins Aerospace where space suits are being developed.

Houston, known as Space City, has a Major League baseball team, the Astros, which played in the Astrodome for a few decades.
