Law Firm Leases Space in Downtown Tower (Note: Oil & Gas)

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report)– Liskow & Lewis, a law firm specializing in energy, has leased 30,000 SF in 1001 Fannin, a 49-story, Class A office tower in downtown Houston.

CBRE’s Kevin Kushner and William Padon represented the tenant in the transaction. Cushman & Wakefield’s Chip Colvill, Brad Beasley, and Cameron Colvill represented the landlord, JMB Realty.

With the signing of the lease extension, the New Orleans-based law firm is renovating the space with a focus on technology and conference facility upgrades.

Liskow & Lewis Focuses on Energy, Oil & Gas

Liskow & Lewis has focused on serving clients in the energy and oil and gas industry since its founding in 1935 in Lake Charles, La.

“Updating our office in Houston will help us continue to attract and retain top talent and clients, with a modern, tech-enabled workplace in the heart of Houston’s central business district,” said Michael Golemi, the head of the firm’s Houston office. “Houston is a critical market for our firm as we continue shaping legal practice for the energy industry and Gulf Coast business community.”

The firm has over 140 lawyers serving clients across the Gulf Coast with four offices in Texas and Louisiana.

“This transaction demonstrates Liskow & Lewis’ long-term commitment to the Houston marketplace, where the firm is well-established with many clients,” said Kevin Kushner, Executive Vice President at CBRE and an Executive Committee member of its Law Firm Practice Group. “The renovations the firm plans to make in its premises will provide a cutting-edge environment for employees and clients using the space. This is a great result for the firm and its future in Houston is bright.”

Completed in 1981, the 1001 Fannin building occupies a block bounded by Fannin, San Jacinto, Lamar and McKinney.

In 2020, building ownership completed a multi-million-dollar renovation project, which included hospitality enhancements to the building’s main lobbies with new escalators and artistic lighting, a new coffee bar with open seating, a modern 8,000-SF fitness center and a fully renovated exclusive tenant outdoor patio. In addition to LEED Gold Certification, the property has received some of the most prestigious recognitions in commercial building management, including BOMA 360 Certification and multiple BOMA TOBY awards.
