HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – CDC Houston, the developers of North Houston’s City Place, formerly known as Springwoods Village, sold 29 acres of land to Harmony Public Schools, paving the way for substantial residential development.
The school tract is located south of the Grand Parkway along Spring Stuebner Road.
“The timing and caliber of this acquisition aligns with the upcoming development of 520 new homes at City Place, along with a high-quality office environment that has attracted headquarters of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ExxonMobil, American Bureau of Shipping, and other corporate campuses,” said City Place developer Warren W. Wilson, Executive Vice President of CDC Houston. “We are thrilled to add Harmony Charter Schools to the growing number of community partners and believe their elementary, middle and high school will have a very positive impact on the existing and future City Place residents.”
Harmony Public Schoolsis a system of 60 Texas public charter schools that provides rigorous, high-quality education focused on science, technology, engineering and math.
Plans call for a first phase encompassing Pre-K to seventh grade l to debut in time for the 2024-25 school year, followed by an adjacent, phase two middle and high school for 2026-27.
Harmony Schools has a 100-percent college acceptance rate.
The school is located in the southern section of the 2,000-acre City Place, developed by CDC Houston – a subsidiary of Coventry Development Corp. of New York. The southern sector of City Place includes The Market – Houston’s first LEED Certified multi-tenant retail development.
The new residential development underway in City Place in being planned and built in conjunction with DMB Development, a community developer based in Scottsdale, Ariz.Designed with the principles of New Urbanism, the community will be a walkable environment.
City Place, located near Interstate 45, now includes 4.75 million SF of office space, three hotels with Marriott-affiliated brands, retail, multifamily and a daytime workforce approaching 20,000. The Exxon Mobil headquarters campus has 3 million SF of space.
