HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Midway’s East River announced that construction is underway on Anton Paar USA’s new South Region headquarters, a 30,000-SF office and lab facility.
Anton Paar, a precision instruments firm, has commenced sitework on a tract it acquired in April 2024 at the southwest corner of Clinton Drive and Meadow Street, in the 150-acre East River, a mixed-use development by the Houston-based Midway.
“East River was created to support companies at the forefront of their industries, and Anton Paar’s new facility is proof of concept,” said David Hightower, Executive Vice President, Investment and Development at Midway. “The start of construction underscores the strength of the east side and the district’s long-term trajectory.”
Port Houston, which oversees the city’s massive port and shipping complex, is currently constructing its 95,000-SF headquarters building in East River, which is about a mile east of downtown on the northern shore of Buffalo Bayou. The bayou was used by the founders of Houston in the 1830s.
Anton Paar USA, a subsidiary of the Austria-based Anton Paar Group, distributes highly precise laboratory instruments and process measuring systems, and provides customized automation and robotic solutions. Anton Paar USA is currently located in an industrial building on World Houston Parkway.
Its new three‑story facility at East River, designed by Powers Brown Architecture, will include 12,500 SF of office space, 12,599 SF dedicated to technology, lab, training, and conference facilities, and 5,000 SF for distribution and shipping. Benchmark Houston Builders is constructing the facility, with completion scheduled for summer 2026.
Situated just east of The Studios at East River, the new Anton Paar headquarters will join a growing cluster of innovative companies and design leaders, including The Office of James Burnett Landscape Architects (OJB), which acquired one of the 10,000‑SF Studio buildings for its Houston offices..
“East River’s vision for a connected, mixed‑use district aligns with how we work—cross‑functional, customer‑focused, and future‑minded,” said Brad Farrar, Vice President, Sales & Service, Southern Region, Anton Paar USA. “By building here, we gain a headquarters that expands our training and application development capabilities while offering the environment and amenities that help our teams thrive.”
Headquarters activity continues to thrive at East River, solidifying its status as a premier business address on Houston’s east side. Orion Holdings Group, Inc. has already moved into its new headquarters at East River, and Midway is developing Port Houston’s 95,000-SF headquarters which will be completed late 2025.
