Cameron Developing Major Corporate Campus in Houston’s Westchase District

HOUSTON – Cameron International, a Houston-based oilfield services and equipment firm, is planning a massive corporate campus with multiple office buildings along Beltway 8 in the Westchase District on Houston’s west side.

On its Westchase site, Cameron International is expected to construct multiple office buildings with more than 1 million square feet of space, which is equivalent to a downtown skyscraper.

Cameron International, a Fortune 500 firm with more than 27,000 employees, has its headquarters on the West Loop and it occupies space in several other buildings in Houston.

Cameron bought a prime 22.3-acre tract of vacant land for the corporate campus in the summer. Years ago the land had been owned by Dow Chemical, but it had been controlled by Apache Corp., until Cameron bought it.

Some people in the real estate community say construction on the project will begin soon, perhaps before the end of the year. But a Cameron senior communications manager said plans had not been confirmed.

“Cameron has recently purchased a land parcel in the Westchase area of Houston,” said Sharon Sloan, senior marketing communications manager for Cameron. “At this time, there are no confirmed plans for development of this property. We will continue to evaluate our real estate requirements in accordance with our growth needs.”

The Cameron site is located at 400 West Sam Houston Parkway South at Deerwood Road, on the west side of the tollway and the south side of Buffalo Bayou.

Cameron will join a long list of firms that area developing corporate campus projects in Houston. Exxon Mobil and Southwestern Energy are building corporate campuses near The Woodlands. On a parcel about a mile south of the Cameron site, Phillips 66 is preparing to break ground this week on another corporate campus.
