HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) –Pelican Builders has topped out its 17-story high-rise condominium tower, which is under construction in the Tanglewood area at 5656 San Felipe.
The 67-unit project, called The Hawthorne, is developed by Houston-based Pelican Builders.
“Just over a year ago, we stood at this site on the ground level to place shovels in the dirt and usher in the long-awaited construction phase of this project. I am now proud to be standing from a much higher vantage point as this condo has gone vertical in the span of 13 months,” said Pelican Builders President Derek Darnell.
Ranman USA, founded by Alejandro Tortoriello, is an investor in the project. Architecture is by Kirksey Architects and Ludlow & Associates Construction is the general contractor. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing Texas is handling sales.
The high-rise will additionally offer public indoor / outdoor areas designed by internationally acclaimed Lauren Rottet of Rottet Studio. In keeping with Tanglewood developer William Giddings Farrington’s original plan for the neighborhood, Rottet is placing a premium on green spaces at The Hawthorne, which is named for author Nathaniel Hawthorne. The author wrote Farrington’s daughter favorite childhood book, Tanglewood Tales.
The building’s port-cochère, which will be surrounded by views of greenery set behind an ivy-clad privacy wall lined with live oak trees. The resident room will boast additional green elements, while the pool deck will be appointed with chaise lounge chairs on lawn areas, rather than hardscape.
Pelican Builders – _one the most active residential developers in Houston in the past 20 years. Earlier this summer, its mid-rise project The Revere at River Oaks completed a sellout of its 30 units, which total $70 million. Additionally, Pelican is nearing completion on its 33-residence mid-rise Westmore in the Upper Kirby District.
Over the years, Pelican has developed The Wilshire at River Oaks District, Highland Tower, The Briarglen, Woodway Place II, Woodway Place Atrium, The Greenway I and II, and The Woodway, along with many gated townhome enclaves.
